The maintenance and groundskeeper employee is responsible for many tasks that allow the parish and surrounding buildings to stay clean, safe and attractive for parishioners, priests and visitors, in addition to performing minor repairs and maintenance, as required. The candidate will have a basic knowledge of a variety of trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, etc.)
Starting Wage: $25/hour
Work Hours: 32 to 40 hours per week / five days per week
Reports to: Fr. Giovanni Schiesari, Pastor

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Maintenance Manager
Status: Five days / thirty-two to forty hours per week
Reports To: Pastor of St. Mary's Parish, Chilliwack
Primary Function of Position:
The maintenance and groundskeeper employee is responsible for many tasks that allow the parish and surrounding buildings to stay clean, safe and attractive for parishioners, priests and visitors, in addition to performing minor repairs and maintenance, as required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Groundskeeper tasks include:
•
Maintain the parish grounds by mowing all grass areas and weed areas where needed
•
Ensure grounds are safe during inclement weather by salting and / or removal of snow
•
Pruning of hedges and trees as required
•
Leaf removal and general cleanup
•
Collection and disposal of litter and trash
•
Inspect the entire parish property daily
2.
Coordination of maintenance duties:
•
Create and manage monthly / yearly maintenance schedule
•
Liaise with maintenance contract providers
•
Keep the pastor apprised of all maintenance and security concerns
•
Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation
•
Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
•
Monitor electrical and plumbing systems to ensure functionality
•
Keep maintenance logs and report daily activities
•
Ensure compliance of health and safety policies
Position Requirements:
•
Previous experience in a similar role
•
Basic knowledge of a variety of trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, etc.)
•
The individual must be able to work in all weather conditions
•
The individual must be able to meet the physical demands of the position and use a variety of tools
•
Attend to emergencies during and after business hours
•
Regular attendance at work.
•
Must meet Safe Environment requirements and protocols
Working Environment:
•
Opportunity to work in a faith-based environment
•
Requires some variable hours and on-call response after regular business hours to meet the needs of the parish
•
The working hours are to be determined by the pastor based on the needs of the parish.
