Sacristans

Sacristans are the indispensible ‘worker bees’ of the sacristy (the room adjacent to St. Mary’s sanctuary in which the sacred vessels, vestments, etc. are kept).  Our team of sacristans diligently work behind the scenes, supporting the priest before and after the celebration of Holy Mass or Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.  Our sacristans are committed to serve, one at a time, at our weekday and weekend Masses – as well as funerals and weddings if needed.

Duties of our sacristans include:

· arriving an hour before Mass begins, opening the church doors, arranging the liturgical books, and getting the sacred vessels ready prior to the celebration.

· cleaning and putting away the sacred items after Mass

· cleaning the altar cloth on a regular basis.

· keeping an inventory of supplies.
