CHRISTIAN MEDITATION

Christian Meditation is a contemplative spiritual practice derived from the teachings of the Desert Fathers of ancient Christianity and Jesus’ admonition to “Go into your closet and pray to your Father in secret.” (Mt 6:6) Meditative prayer leads us from the head to the heart. There we encounter the Spirit of God in silence and stillness. 

This ministry began in Montreal by Fr. John Main OSB (1926 - 1982) when he invited lay people to join the Benedictine community in this way of praying.   At St. Mary’s we gather to meditate ,all are welcome.
